How languages work in Foyer
You write everything once, in the language you choose as your text language. Foyer translates it into the other languages you turn on, you can correct any line, and each visitor sees their own language. Staff always get your default language.
1
Two kinds of textBuilt-in text — buttons, prompts and messages like “Check in” or “Sign here” — comes translated with the apps. Your own text — welcome message, visitor types, check-in questions and choices, NDAs, delivery messages, invite email and evacuation alerts — is translated automatically for your company.
2
Text languageThe language your welcome message, visitor types, questions and NDAs are written in. Every translation is made from it, and visitors see it whenever a translation isn’t ready yet.
3
Default languageThe language every kiosk visit starts in. Printed badges and staff notifications use it. It can differ from your text language — for example English text with Spanish as the default, using the Spanish translations.
4
Extra languagesThe languages visitors can switch to: English, Español, Français and العربية (Arabic). Turn on as many as you need; visitors only see a language picker when more than one is on.
5
Automatic translationA few seconds after you save text in the dashboard, Foyer machine-translates whatever is new or changed. Lines you edited by hand are never overwritten.
6
NDAs need your approvalVisitors sign NDAs and agreements, so their translations stay hidden until an admin approves them. Until then visitors see and sign the original.
7
Per locationEach location has its own languages. Switch to a location with the company switcher before changing them.
TIPAnswers are always stored in your default language’s values, so reports, exports and filters work the same whatever language a visitor used.
